Dear leah George,

Welcome to ther Rugby Coaching World!!!

i would suggest you to take start with begginers guide and then later on do rugby ready online plus laws of the game on line.

i am sure you must be aware of this stuff but believe me its worth doing,,,

its provide basic structure and lay out to start rugby coaching nicely.

good luck,,,

Hi Leah,

Jamal is certainly correct that there are some online resources that can get you going in terms of acquiring knowledge.

How much they'll teach you will depend on whether you're new to coaching or new to the game of Rugby as a whole.

If you want to go further and consider attending a face-to-face coaching course then it would be best to contact your national union and enquire as to their coaching pathway which varies across the Rugby world.

Good luck and enjoy your Rugby.

I done a face- to- face rugby ready course, some 2 weeks ago and would like to go on and do level 1 coaching, however on the night of me doing my face-to-face rugby ready i was told that the RFU don't issue certificates anymore to those who do their rugby ready, i find that abit weird really, can anyone advice on this, thanks guys/girls

Hi Mike,

The implementation of Rugby Ready at national level is very much a matter for the national unions, in your case the RFU.

However if you are looking at moving on to do a Level 1 with the RFU then Rugby Ready was a good place to start as it gives you a good grounding in many of the issues.

Also, much as we love the online course, there's nothing quite like face to face teaching to really bring the issues to light.

Hi Denzil

If you have done a Level 1 course, then I suggest that you contact South Africa Rugby Union to find out when the next Level 2 course is taking place near you.  Their website is www.sarugby.co.za.

I suggest that ensure that you have completed

  • RugbyReady
  • Concussion Guidance for General Public
  • Laws of the game
  • Coaching Key Factors
  • Functional Role Analysis

Thank you.
